The result of the move request was: no consensus. This closer suggests that any subsequent RMs link sources as Asukite stated and relate those sources back to policies and guidelines, such as WP:COMMONNAME, WP:NAMECHANGES, and WP:CONCISE. Vodafone Ghana Music AwardsGhana Music Awards – This is an event that could stand on its own in terms of its plain name without the need for a headline/title sponsor like La Liga Santander and Carabao Cup (which redirect to their actual respective topic names) and that made me invoke this request. This event could really connect its history to the present-day and possibly into the future to combat this recentism brouhaha without its current sponsored name. We usually base decisions on titles like this on what term is most-often reported in reliable, secondary sources. From a quick scan of the reflist for this article I can see that some are using "Vodafone" in the titles and some are not. While I personally prefer not using sponsored titles, it's a perennial issue here (you'll see it a lot with sports venues and the like, for example). If the event was not always sponsored by Vodafone, it should be mentioned in the article in a section explaining the name change, with sources.
If you can show citations which prove which title is currently being reported by the majority of sources, that will help. ASUKITE 16:10, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vodafone Ghana Music AwardsGhana Music Awards – Non-sponsored title, keeping redirect from the sponsored title, as per La Liga Santander and Carabao Cup (which redirect to their actual names).

The official website itself, simply named Ghana Music Awards, uses the base name more often than the sponsored name (even after the sponsorship, they talk about «mutual respect between Vodafone Ghana and Ghana Music Awards» keeping the base name) The same happens on their social media pages, all of them simply named Ghana Music Awards (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

The simple name without sponsor being the more used on paper-based sources too, I'd point out WP:COMMONNAME. Est. 2021 (talk · contribs) 14:55, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
