A description of the Gaoyou battle should be added to the history section
[edit]The battle of Gaoyou in 1945 was the last as well as the most intense and difficult battle fought between the main forces of the New Fourth Army and the Japanese Army after the surrender of Japan. It has great strategic and historical significance.
On August 15, 1945, Japan announced its unconditional surrender.
On September 2, the signing ceremony of Japan's surrender was held aboard the battleship USS Missouri anchored in Tokyo Bay, marking the final victory of China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
September 3 is the Victory Day of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
On September 9, He Yingqin presided over the surrender ceremony at the auditorium of the Army headquarters in Nanjing. Ningji Okamura signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender.
What many people don't know is that World War I broke out after this. This was the Battle of Gaoyou, which was the last battle of Chinese Resistance against Japanese aggression. On August 15, Japan surrendered unconditionally, but the Japanese troops stationed in Gaoyou City in Jiangsu Province were still fighting in the final corner. Gaoyou is an ancient city, the geographical position is superior, is located in the central China liberation area south line. On December 19, the Central China Field Army commander Su Yu personally deployed and commanded, launched the Gaoyou campaign, and recovered Gaoyou City in a week. This battle is called the last battle of the Anti-Japanese War.
