Toppukaranam

[edit]

In Tamil Nadu people perform squats while holding their ears as a ritual to worship Ganesha and we call it toppukaranam. Can this be mentioned in the article too please? 106.222.220.28 (talk) 04:44, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2nd Century

[edit]

Hi folks, more than one place in this article talks about Ganesha in the 2nd century, but there is also this bit in the "possible influences" section: Thapan's book on the development of Ganesha devotes a chapter to speculations about the role elephants had in early India but concludes that "although by the second century CE the elephant-headed form exists it cannot be presumed to represent . There is no evidence of a deity by this name having an elephant or elephant-headed form at this early stage. had yet to make his debut." Since this doesn't represent the scholarly consensus on the history of Ganesha, I propose deleting it. Thoughts? Thanks, Hemmingweigh (talk) 13:59, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Main image

[edit]

I think the main image should be changed to an picture that looks more like a more common representation of Ganesha, like the Dagdushetha Halwai Mandir murti or the Lalbaugcha Raja.

Ganesa beyond india and hinduism

[edit]

Hello,i just removed the image and description of ghana hindus from the aforementioned topic because it seemed really unfit there,as the topic was made to show the spread of Ganesh image and worship during the ancient and medieval era in Asia. His worship in Ghana is a completely unrelated and modern phenomenon. Also, the image was puted there in a kinda messy way so it was visually polluting the topic.Just to clarify it 187.183.203.189 (talk) 22:21, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
