Requested move
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: move the page to Gadi Eizenkot, per the discussion below and the policy guidance to prefer the WP:COMMONNAME to "official" sources. Dekimasuよ! 22:19, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Gadi Eisenkott → Gadi Eisencott – Kot/kott translates to "feces" in German. We don't want this. Cott is a better choice, beacuse it has no translation whatsoever. See website: http://www.dict.cc/?s=kot Thanks in advance. Dr. Feldinger (talk) 19:03, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

- Correction Gadi Eizenkot per User:DGtal survey. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:35, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Support per myself Yossimgim (talk) 07:38, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
- Should be Gadi Eisenkot. It is true that the name sounds bad in German but the name's origin is unclear, probably a twist of a Moroccan name (Hebrew language paper wrote tons on in yesterday). The best source we have in my opinion is official IDF site in English, currently it says Deputy Chief of the General Staff: Major General Gadi Eisenkot. DGtal (talk) 08:10, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
- Addition: This spelling (Eisenkot) can also be seen in the pic's the IDF uploaded to commons from their flickr account. DGtal (talk) 08:15, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose – it should be moved to Gadi Eizenkot per WP:COMMONNAME. Looking at the various spelling of his name in the Israeli English-language media, the results are in the table below; Eizenkot is used 78% of the time. In ictu oculi – I'm not sure why you mentioned the Jerusalem Post as supporting Eisencott, as it uses that spelling only 0.06% of the time. Cheers, Number 57 14:58, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Pinging @In ictu oculi, Yossimgim, and DGtal: for reconsideration of the evidence below – spelling with "c" instead of "k" account for just 235 of the 37,505 mentions in the press (0.62%). The real question is whether "s" or "z" should be used in the first half of the surname, with the z version apparently more popular by over 3:1. Cheers, Number 57 14:07, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

- The discussion is closed, but i'd like to add another remark that there is another source that claims there is a factory in Germany called Eizenkot (I dont know which spelling caus the source is in Hebrew), manufacturing Iron and that the name means "Iron Body": [1] --Midrashah (talk) 13:26, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Refs needed
[edit]This article has a number of statements that would benefit from the addition of RS refs. --2604:2000:E016:A700:4484:D7B0:8756:2C26 (talk) 19:00, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Care to be more particular?Icewhiz (talk) 19:24, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- I could tag them, but tagging all would perhaps mar the article. Essentially, I would suggest that all non-referenced sentences could benefit from the addition of RS refs. With special attention given to those that have BLP implications. If you prefer, I can tag the article, but I thought it better to leave word here. --2604:2000:E016:A700:4484:D7B0:8756:2C26 (talk) 19:33, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

I wish to add a reference to an article, doi:10.1080/01402390.2022.2104254, on Eisenkot and CBW. The appropriate location is right after reference [21], before "In August 2016 Eizenkot was...". PolSciTAU (talk) 13:39, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
- Done in this edit. Thanks PolSciTAU. --N8wilson 🔔 14:00, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
