Cork GAA

[edit]

Suggest move nmae from "GAA in Cork" to "Cork GAA" per every other article on County Boards. Laurel Lodged (talk) 15:06, 25 February 2012 (UTC) I agree Pmunited (talk) 22:36, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

re-name candidate

GAA in CorkCork GAA – every other GAA county in Ireland uses the "Foo GAA" naming. This is the sole exception. Laurel Lodged (talk) 20:58, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Support if an anomalous GAA category, "Tipperary GAA hurlers", is renamed to the standard "Tipperary hurlers". Brocach (talk) 21:30, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks but no thanks. It's not in my gift. Wiki decided to re-name it. This is Wiki, not a bazarre in Marrakesh. Laurel Lodged (talk) 23:26, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Support - Actually, will I just go ahead and do it, I don't believe this is controversial although it was good to check first. --HighKing (talk) 14:05, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between geographic county and GAA county.

[edit]

By my count, HighKing has reverted my edits 3 times. That places him in breech of 3RR. I think that he should explain his behaviour and why he should not be the subject of a complaint for edit warring. Laurel Lodged (talk) 18:27, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your conduct is the explanation. Brocach (talk) 19:30, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And why are we waiting for HK's contribution? It's almost like he doesn't really want to engage and just mentioned the talk page as a sop. If he's not here by this time tomorrow I will revert. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:34, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The first edit (remove rubbish from lede) isn't a revert. So you've reverted 3 times, I've reverted twice. 3RR is usually for more than 3 times (take a read WP:3RR, although I wouldn't be surprised if the number of reverts across multiple articles is taken into account, in which case you would have been blocked. I'm happy it didn't come to that. I genuinely believe you're acting in good faith, but the most difficult WP policy/rule you need to get your head around is that of consensus, not "facts" or "truth" or whatever (although they generally are all related). Rather than carry out multiple discussions across multiple articles, can I suggest (as has been strongly suggested by an admin at AN/I) that you take this discussion to WT:GAA and cease from any more renaming or county-related editing (or face a block) until the matter has been resolved. --HighKing (talk) 20:27, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As I said at WP:ANI, there is no hope of constructive engagement with Laurel Lodged, who does not know the meaning of "good faith". I don't share your hope that this can be resolved at WT:GAA because of LL's plainly-stated contempt for that "tumbleweed" forum. Brocach (talk) 00:03, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page move

[edit]

I have moved this article and talk page following the requested move above. However, the target page had an extensive history going back to 2005 of the original Cork GAA article, which existed until it was redirected about a year ago. To preserve the history, I have moved that page to GAA in County Cork and made it a redirect to Cork GAA. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 06:27, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your decision Pmunited (talk) 12:54, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Confederate flag

[edit]

I read in Modern_display_of_the_Confederate_battle_flag#Presence_in_other_parts_of_the_world that Cork GAA supporters use/have used the Confederate flag as symbol for their 'rebel' status. This seems noteworthy enough to mention in the article. effeietsanders 06:30, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
