This article also has problems with its DYK hook. The editor tied the speciation into the last ice age and included a lot of information from an unrelated (to this speciation) article on the creation of the Baltic Sea after the LGM; but the article on the species is about speciation after the Baltic turned from an open marine to a more closed brackish environment. The timing of speciation is after this latter event, not after the glacial retreat. It's like saying that King Henry VIII came to the throne after William I; yes, but.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.107.141.42 (talk) 18:11, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The source I cited was not specific as to when the speciation occurred so I used the phrase "since the last ice age" which was manifestly true. In the same way, Henry VIII came to the throne at some (unspecified) time after the reign of William I. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:59, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Hence, separation took place after the Baltic underwent the transition from marine to brackish water, less than 4 kya."
The speciation discussed in the article is about the question of whether or not species arise rapidly in marine environments; you've empaphised the fresh-water post-glacial lake in your hook (post Ice-age).
Manifestly true or not, you've missed the entire point of the article you used as a reference. You've answered the question, "Did Henry VIII ascend to the throne after Henry VII?" with the comment that he became king after William I and threw the House of York out with the bathwater. Is that how Wikipedia writes an encyclopedia? Manifest truths? Sgsfdhd (talk) 19:53, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
