Dates

[edit]

Simpson gives the opening as September 1854; Butt merely states "1855" and MacDermot has no date. Opinion has it that Butt is normally to be trusted; and personal experience has shown up other errors in Simpson, so despite the latter giving a fuller date, I have no reason to prefer Simpson over Butt for the opening in this particular case. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:19, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have now found 1855 in MacDermot too! --Redrose64 (talk) 17:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Compared to Railway Magazine, Mitchell & Smith transpose the goods and passenger closure dates; initially I picked the RM as being a contemporaneous account; seems that it's backed up by Butt, at least as far as the pass date is concerned. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:19, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
