[edit]Well this page is really dated. I heard a presentation by one of the members of the group when I attended the Hartnell Planetarium grand opening. Seems a shame it is so abandoned. Let me see what I can put together.Sgerbic (talk) 18:57, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry this took me so long to finish. But I'm as done as I can be at the moment. Welcome others to improve the page. I reached out to the observatory in the hopes they would give me more citations and upload photos and video for me. They never responded. I see wonderful photographs all over Internet but alas can not use them. One question I could not resolve was, is the telescope called a Challenger telescope (like a type of telescope) or is it simply named Challenger by the owners of the telescope? I've left the article ambiguous, hopefully someone will figure that out. Some articles I came across mentioned other articles like a AAA magazine that did an article on the observatory, but I could not find it online, that might be helpful. I'm sure there are a lot of newspaper articles that exist, but not on the Internet. I think in order to improve this article further the editor will have to get help from the group and get the citations from them, as well as the photos. At least this page is no longer a stub and I learned quite a bit while researching it, including "first light". I grew up in Salinas and half of my adult-life I was able to see the tower on the peak from a window in my home, some days the view was so pretty (not so much during the drought) I've been to the observatory at least twice when the children were young, now I have a better appreciation of the place and if I get back there will take my own darn photos and upload them to WMC for use on the page. :-) Enjoy!Sgerbic (talk) 23:15, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
Should have a status on 70 inch telescope progress
[edit]If Kevin is still working on the 70 inch, I think a section on current status would be useful. 68.65.169.130 (talk) 00:22, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
Fussing on page today
[edit]Plan on spending some time looking for new citations and switching this page over to Cite error: There are <ref>
tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). format. It might be a bit messy for a few hours, please bear with me.Sgerbic (talk) 19:00, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
