Conflict of interest/Autobiography

[edit]

This page rather clearly violates WP:AUTO. The subject is notable and worthy of mention in Wikipedia, but many of the details in this article seem to be personal, promotional, or otherwise not salient, verifiable, or encyclopedic. The promotional nature of elements of this article bring unnecessary disrespect to both the subject and to Wikipedia; this should be corrected.

I'm posting this comment to solicit opinions of others. I won't take any action for at least a week, and I'd prefer someone else to trim this article. Avt tor 07:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned, I have removed some non-encyclopedic material (mainly, about projects not completed and reasons for losing past awards).Avt tor 23:30, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I updated Frank's Wikipedia page to reflect his win for best fan artist for the 2009 Hugo - Spacekatgal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spacekatgal (talkcontribs) 02:49, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You should not be updating this at all, STOP editing this article. Read: Conflict of Interest

Response: Unless there is any concrete evidence to the allegation that this article is being "disrespectful" to its subject, any action being taken for such allegation is an outright disrespect of the article and will add bias, which it should not have any of.

An individual's preference or association to the particular subject at hand should not ruin the objectivity of an article, and is a clear violation of Wikipedia's standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by QuantumMass (talkcontribs) 03:31, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The photo is NOT of Frank Wu. It is of Daniel Spector receiving Frank's Hugo for him at the 2007 Worldcon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LisaMarli (talkcontribs) 07:03, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am working to correct the mistaken photograph of Frank Wu. A proper image my be seen at Wikipedia Commons at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Frankwu.jpg#Summary. I have also updated his biography slightly. Spacekatgal (talk) 19:13, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that, seven years having elapsed, this handwringing is superfluous. And, dear 98.204, maybe you should edit under your real account? Or would that be......embarrassing? MarkBernstein (talk) 03:37, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Today I added citations for the various awards and nominations that raise Mr. Wu to the level of notability required; these citations are directly from the awarding organizations. The remaining material seems to be statement of facts, and does not seem "promotional".VentnorNJ (talk) 21:07, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First Wife

[edit]

Surprised this article doesn't include Alison McBain in Wu's list of spouses... While the latter might not be fully WP:N, the fact that he was married once before likely is. ... FunkyDuffy (talk) 19:49, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unless it's been discussed in reliable sources, we can't discuss it here. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 05:41, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography

[edit]

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section. Cite templates will be used for books and articles. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. Links to potentially unreliable digitised copies may be removed. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 12:27, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove this hatnote above per WP:NOTAMB, and add dates in short description per WP:SDDATES. 2001:4451:824F:B700:D5D3:2171:B3EF:E335 (talk) 14:01, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: Removed the hatnote, but not the dates, by which I assume you mean his birth year. That information isn't in the article at all, which is a rather glaring issue that I'll have to take a look at later. Deauthorized. (talk) 19:48, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
