Picture of the skyline of Fort Wayne
[edit]User:Sahas P. and User:SwissAmish,
You are both right. The newer picture is clearer and taken on a day that was not as overcast. The older picture shows the river.
This should not be a binary choice. It is not a zero sum game.
Can't someone find or produce a better picture that has the features of both? 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- There appears to be a lack of Fort Wayne skyline photos of quality in the public domain.
- The one re-uploaded by @WeaponizingArchitecture falls quite short as well IMO. It fails to show the river, and I am by no means a photographer, but the rule of thirds seems to be crudely ignored in this photograph (so much sky). It it were just a bit lower, and instead the upper portion was the skyline (and not the sky), and the lower showcased the river, this would be the ideal shot, which can be pulled off to my knowledge.
- Really, someone just needs to go there and take a better, new picture. SwissAmish (talk) 16:33, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- The river is generally unimportant to what should be shown (the cityscape). Also, you can still easily see the buildings, its not like they're not visible at all. The focus isn't on the sky either, an average reader can focus on the buildings easily. WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 17:41, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with User:WeaponizingArchitecture. Poor photographic composition needs to be put in the 'round file.' We can do better. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 19:53, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- This is a river city. It was/is built along the rivers.
- Interesting conjecture that the 'river' is 'generally unimportant'.
- The rivers are the sole reason for the existence of this city and its scape.
- Look up 'cityscape photos' of any city that is situated along a body of water, and that body of water will likely be prominently featured in the city's 'skyline' or 'cityscape' photo.
