Merger proposal

[edit]

Support: I support the merging of the pages, and think it is a good idea. I also agree that it should have more information on its history and role today.--Mcabanes (talk) 21:46, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

REMINDER: Please create a merger proposal section on the talk page when adding {{merge}}, {{mergeto}}, or {{mergefrom}} templates.

  • Against merging it is a very bad idea. They are separate places and should be treated as such. The military base should have more information on its history and it's role today. Is it so bad if some facts overlap to another article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.8.132 (talk) 19:23, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support My passing familiarity with articles dealing with military posts indicates most articles do not have different entries for the installations vice the community which comprise the installation. This is particularly true for census designated areas. If I am correct, then consistency should rule. --S. Rich (talk) 05:36, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Against The unincorporated area known as Fort Leonard Wood includes the U.S. Army base by that name, but it also includes the surrounding region. As such, they are not one and the same. In other words, homes and businesses outside of the base are nevertheless considered to be within the Fort Leonard Wood census designated area, but they would not be considered part of the base itself. • Against It is really simple. The town and base are separate even though they are both named after the same MOH recipient. Towns near bases are not folded into the base. This idea sucks! 172.56.20.176 (talk) 06:34, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Wait, I just want to make sure that everybody understands that there is no separate town named after the fort or anything; the towns outside the base are Waynesville and St. Robert. For whatever reason there is an article discussing the demographics of the Census Designated Place (I think used by the Census Bureau), which is the exact same place as the base. I don't have an opinion as to whether or not they get merged (maybe the CDP article rolls Waynesville and St. Robert in--I haven't looked at it in detail) but I want to make this explicit because the comments here lead me to believe there's some confusion. 137.161.255.21 (talk) 19:22, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
