page move
[edit]i am moving this page and creating a disambguation to accomadate an artice on forst school horsham, having checked nothing links here :-) Benon 02:19, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
"the majority take Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate GCSE subjects" - No. There is one separate science set in each school this year, the rest take Dual Award Science.
No the first guy was right. the majority of people take separate science. Maybe it was diffenet in your day, but now there is one dual set per yer and three/four separate science sets.
Exam Results
[edit]"The school recieves somewhat OK exam results" No! According to the League tables, it is the best school in Waltham Forest at GCSE and A/AS results. This needs to be corrected.
Infobox
[edit]This page needs an infobox. Could someone who's familiar with WikiProject Schools or British schools in general add one? Oh, and for the folks who posted above about factual inaccuracies, don't be shy! Jump in and fix them! RedRollerskate 22:47, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Quality of English

Vandalism
[edit]I am disgusted at the amount of vandalism on this page. The English translation of the motto is 'Partial to anal penetration'!!! Believe me, i go to the school. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nayan Tolia (talk • contribs)

I doubt that it is a coincidence that most of the vandalism has been Nayan Tolia related.
School song
[edit]I don't think the song has all the lines to it... I'm sure it used to be longer!
Same here, I'm at this school, and I think there's a paragraph more, I'll go to chapel and check, after half term.
I just looked in the History of Forest School that we were given, and there are actually seven other verses, which I have added.
But shouldn't we note that we tend to sing only the first and last verses? And perhaps we could have a bit of a translation? Mhmaudling 16:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Do it yourself, Mhmaudling, instead of asking others Hugh Davey 17:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure the school song doesn't have a verse about octopi. Please fix!
We could get one of the teachers to help with the translation. The Chaplain probably has an English version somewhere. Bewareoftheevilcheeseman 14:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
And also the last verse given is the Boys' School version, becuase I am positive there is a different version for the Girls' School. Maybe you should ask the head of Classics department? Marielenh 20:50, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the Girl's school has "Pectoris robur, puellaeque custos, Qui Puella quondam in puellis fuisti, Fac Tibi semper placeamus omnes, Pectore puro, pectore puro!" - it simply switches 'boy' to 'girl'. I'll add a note at the bottom. Bewareoftheevilcheeseman 23:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Didn't the composer drown in the Roding? Or did I imagine reading this? Mhmaudling 16:31, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- If you can find documentary evidence of this, I suggest adding it in to the main article. --Lost tourist (Talk) 19:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
For the person who foolishly deleted the information about Theophilus Monk - he does actually exist, and is referred to in the history of the school!
History
[edit]For a 170-year-old school, a one-line history saying essentially "it's larger now than it was" is a bit poor. Anyone care to expand at all?
--Lost tourist 08:13, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Its also got some new buildings

Photos
[edit]The article is a bit sparse photowise. A picture of the school crest would be good (we did have one a little while ago that got deleted due to lack of a copywright license) Also we need pictures of the school site. Bewareoftheevilcheeseman 14:55, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
It's not in Essex. Corrected. --Handelaar 19:57, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Address
[edit]I've just removed the rather preposterous claim that the school says it's in Snaresbrook in order to distance itself from the LBWF's academic results. The truth is that 'Walthamstow' doesn't sound posh enough. Certainly the claim being made did not explain why they've been doing it since long before 'Waltham Forest' was created in 1965. --Handelaar 19:55, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Faith
[edit]The school is not predominantly Christian and saying otherwise would be factually inaccurate.87.194.57.83 20:46, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Sixth Form
[edit]"Pupils can choose from a very wide range of combinations of AS and A2 courses and these are supplemented by General Studies and a programme of lectures and debates." Since when have we been offered debates? I will remove this reference if all are in agreement Mhmaudling 20:46, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Sixth form debates were a feature of the school in the 90s when I was a pupil. These were held in the theatre. On stage would be the chair, two proposers and two opposers. After each of these participants had spoken - alternating between for and against - there would be floor speeches, which were given from the ground floor seats on the right-hand side, looking from the stage. Attendance was compulsory and every pupil was required to do a floor speech during their lower sixth. Anonymous 09:23, 9 August 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.93.21.68 (talk)
Registration
[edit]"All boys are registered by House" - boys, aren't you registered in forms in the first & second forms? Mhmaudling 20:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, they are. Marielenh 18:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Deputy Wardens
[edit]I am informed that the head of the prep school is not a deputy warden. Unless evidence is provided that I am wrong, this will be altered. Mhmaudling 19:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Forest-school-logo.gif
[edit]Image:Forest-school-logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Theatre
[edit]Is it worth mentioning the theatre there, the no of seats etc, and recent productions (such as Iolanthe)?--TimothyJacobson (talk) 15:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Forms
[edit]How necessary is the grid which lists that first year = year seven etc. Surely this need not be here, as otherwise it may bas well be on all secondary schools wikipages--TimothyJacobson (talk) 15:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Non-encyclopedic and trivial information
[edit]I see that an un-named editor has tried to add a copious amount of non-encyclopedic and in some cases very trivial information to this article. Please bear in mind that the school has its own website and issues its own publicity material. People can find the information which the editor wants to include on the school website or in those materials. The Wikipedia page on this school should not be cluttered with non-encyclopedic information. Thank you. George Custer's Sabre (talk) 11:43, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
