I removed the bit about the bypasses. SR 944 was defined before the 1945 renumbering, as were the northern part of 826 and 997 south of 90. There is no evidence given that these were considered together - SR 944 was an urban route. If they were considered part of a system of bypasses, please cite sources. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 20:33, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

– Per the result of a discussion in Talk:Bird Road on similarly named Miami area road articles and Wikipedia conventions on common name, a move of the article title to "Krome Avenue" (the common name) is practical. FrickFrack 21:19, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Florida State Road 909West Dixie Highway – Per the result of a discussion in Talk:Bird Road on similarly named articles on Miami area roads, a move to "West Dixie Highway" (the common name) is practical. FrickFrack 21:28, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose: Dixie Highway isn't just a Florida road. "West Dixie Highway" should redirect to "Dixie Highway". Please see the Dixie Highway article. Dixie Highway had a west route and an east route, so West Dixie Highway refers to the west route. Some other parts of West Dixie Highway still exist outside of Florida and still use the name "Dixie Highway" – e.g. in Louisville, Kentucky. And there's no mention of Dixie Highway at Talk:Bird Road. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:54, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification comment: None of the affected target pages seem to have move notices to indicate that they may be replaced. Shouldn't the bot have done that, like it did for the pages that would replace them? —BarrelProof (talk) 12:46, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RJL reversions

[edit]

I've reverted the article back to the shortened RJL, primarily as it is a summary of a technical document for the road, and because this is an encyclopedia article, not a travel guide. In particular, it is for these reasons:

  • A fair number of the roads mentioned in the RJL have little to no notability in themselves. Just because they happen to link to the HEFT does not give them notability, and thus notability in terms of SR 997. If Campbell Drive and Biscayne Drive were State Roads, then they could be added.
  • SR 9336 does not go to Biscayne National Park, only the Everglades. While Biscayne could be reached from using SR 9336; again, it is not contextual in terms of SR 997 as it requires additional travel on a number of non-State Roads. It could also be reached using other means, from what I can tell on a map.
  • Miami Dade College Homestead is not situated on Krome Avenue, which is why it is not mentioned in the route description and thus should not be mentioned in the RJL.
  • There is currently not enough verifiable information on Former SR 5A to merit its inclusion in the RJL. If additional information was provided, then it could be included.

344th/Palm goes to Biscayne, and there are signs pointing that way. Other intersections also have signs as listed in the junction list. --NE2 12:35, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The shorter version is better, and the "justification" given above doesn't address the points above. So in that case, +1 to the shorter RJL. Imzadi 1979  02:49, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a slow-moving, stupid edit war, so we should seek more input from the community and get this resolved. –Fredddie 21:53, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see the connection between the name 'Krome' Avenue with the person(s) for whom it is named. I assume it is either William J. Krome, one of Henry Flagler's chief surveyors/civil engineers, or WJK's son William H. Krome, a prominent South Dade farmer, researcher, and industry and community leader. When was the name 'Krome' assigned to this thoroughfare, and what events precipitated the naming? Thank You!
