Gough-Calthorpe family
[edit]Is Calthorpe Park related to the Gough-Calthorpe family? (There's a Calthorpe Park in Birmingham, too.) Andy Mabbett 09:10, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes, I believe Sir Euan Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe lives fairly locally. Land belonging to the family may have been purchased to build the Calthorpe Park housing estate on which the school is built. (MatthewMain 14:46, 24 March 2006 (UTC))
The two are related. Martinvl (talk) 18:03, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]"The high street is now renowned for the shininess of the poor quality shoes witnessed in The Old Emporium and the complete lack of class exhibited by drunken specimens staggering up the exit ramp of Jaxx. "
Although possibly accurate, not something for a serious encyclopedia. --GeologyTom (talk) 10:36, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Baseless claim
[edit]"In 2010 it was voted the 'Best Town in England', based on a variety of factors." - The site referenced at the end of this passage contains nothing to suggest that this is the case. Futhermore, upon searching the website of the local newspapers (http://www.gethampshire.co.uk/) for the phrase "Best Town in England", no relevant results were returned. This leads me to believe that this claim is false. Marxjohnson (talk) 23:13, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Misleading description
[edit]The Geography section of the page states that the Basingstoke Canal connects Fleet to Basingstoke. This implies it is possible to travel to Basingstoke along the canal. However, since the closure of the Greywell Tunnel, this is no longer true - you can only travel as far as the village of Greywell. Marxjohnson (talk) 23:13, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Ambulance Service
[edit]How do I change this on the infobox? It should be http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/South_Central_Ambulance_Service. Paul-T (talk) 00:23, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- According to https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Template:Infobox_UK_place the tag is not ambulance but ambulance_service See "Vale of White Horse and Hart districts only: ambulance_service (needs to be populated)" I assume Fleet is in Hart district? Pls edit if not. SageGreenRider (talk) 18:00, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 31 August 2019
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: No consensus. (non-admin closure) Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:11, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
Fleet, Hampshire → Fleet, Hart – DAB from Fleet, Hayling Island Per WP:PDAB/WP:PRECISION. Per WP:UKPLACE districts are used when further disambiguation is needed (the Hayling Island one is in Havant). "Fleet, Hampshire" could remain as a redirect to the town (like Thriller (album)/Thriller (Michael Jackson album)) or retagreted to the DAB Fleet (like On the Road (film)). This is also consistent with Category:Fleet, Hart (that I created last month). Crouch, Swale (talk) 14:25, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. This Fleet is overwhelmingly the place anyone would think of if they saw "Fleet, Hampshire". Clear primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:09, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
