Their headquarters was at Newton Heath between the Manchester to Rochdale via Castleton and Manchester to Rochdale via Oldham. Wouldn't this sentence sound less clumsy when written as "/--/ between the Manchester-Castleton-Rochdale and Manchester-Oldham-Rochdale [lines? roads?]." I didn't change it as I don't know the meaning behind it. PeepP 22:43, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Merger

[edit]

Since this is the same company as North Western Trains under new ownership and branding, they should be treated as one company and only have one article. Ditto Great Western Trains. --82.45.163.4 19:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, on one hand technically it was the same company running the franchise, with First taking over after a year or so, but on the other had, North Western Trains and First North Western had different parent companies, at the latter introduced it's own livery and corporate image though this was mostly done towards the end of the franchise. --Danielnez1 23:13, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've merged the articles for now, mainly becuase North Western Trains was such a short article. However, I believe at some point in the future this could be reversed, if there were enough information. --Jorvik 19:31, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great Western Trains and Northern Spirit both have their own articles, what is different about North Western Trains? ZoeL (talk) 20:39, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Class 309

[edit]

Did this operator not operate some British Rail Class 309s until the turn of the millennium? Tom walker (talk) 22:39, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Class 305

[edit]

Did they also operate a few class 305 units as well, think they where used on the Glossop/Hadfield services until around 2000
