Anecdotal tone

[edit]

Hello! As a new Wikipedian, I did not directly tag this page, as I would like to have more experience before making the individual decision to tag a page. Nonetheless, I still would like to bring the following points to your attention. The “History” section seemed to be reliant on anecdotes and family lore, with most citations leading to the company’s website.

I also found phrases such as “... Fentimans are still making their sodas the same as they did back at the turn of the century.” , “... a mission to produce drinks in the original way, using the traditional ginger beer recipe and 100% natural ingredients.” And “ This approach has not changed much in over 100 years as the knowledge and expertise have been passed on from generation to generation of the Fentiman family. ” to be written as if in an advertisement for the company in question.

My final point is the use of terms like “All the rage,” “100% natural,” “from generation to generation,” and “characteristic flavor” to not follow Wikipedia’s journalistic tone.

Other than that, great article! Open to ideas, ProteinFromTheSea ProteinFromTheSea (talk) 19:26, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance of alcohol content

[edit]

The section on alcohol content was removed by an IP user last year branding it as irrelevant. However I feel that section is in fact relevant considering the international publicity the incident attracted and it is an example of the low levels of alcohol in soft drinks. I did not know anything about alcohol in soft drinks until I read one of the sources cited in the section and I also feel that Fentimans is the best known example of said alcohol content.
