[edit]Correct me I’m wrong, but it appears to me that the Conquest Alliance and the Fatah Alliance are the same thing. Charles Essie (talk) 19:16, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, looks so. As per the other page, the Arabic name is Tahalof Al-Fateh. Which is the best name for English Wikipedia? It comes down to WP:UE (Use English):
- In deciding whether and how to translate a foreign name into English, follow English-language usage. If there is no established English-language treatment for a name, translate it if this can be done without loss of accuracy and with greater understanding for the English-speaking reader.
- I'm unclear as to whether "Fatah Alliance" is a more common name in English than "Conquest Alliance". Certainly the Palestinian political party Fatah seems to be universally called Fatah rather than Conquest (or Liberation).AndrewRT(Talk) 16:39, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- Google Hits isn't particularly helpful here, although Conquest Alliance gives 10 non-WP results and Fatah Alliance gives 20 hits AndrewRT(Talk) 16:55, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
