Railway?

[edit]

This article currently has no references, and the only quoted source is a dead link. Nellie is referred to elsewhere on Wikipedia as an artwork. Was there an actual railway? I have searched, but so far found no sources to support this article. If we can't put some meat on it, then it ought to be merged into Frederick Roland Emett. Timothy Titus Talk To TT 17:39, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it deserves an independent article. If you want to find more about the actual railway (which post-dated the cartoons), then try looking under Festival of Britain. Andy Dingley (talk) 19:04, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It seems the merge should be to Festival of Britain. At present the section in Festival of Britain has more information and more references than the so-called article! If we're going to keep an article on this subject then it needs a lot of work. Timothy Titus Talk To TT 20:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This article is a stub, which is a legitimate state for an article to be in. Even if, like this, it's sadly lacking in content. The topic is certainly notable, and adequately independent of both Emmet and the Festival. Converting this to a redir just isn't an advantage.
What we really want of course is an expanded article, but they don't grow on trees. The starting point is probably to find some usable images. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:32, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to the locos and rolling stock?

[edit]

Does anyone know what happened to the locos and rolling stock? In other words where are they now? The railway was hugely popular, so it seems unlikley that the Emmett designed locos and rolling stock would have simply been scrapped. Jonathan 94.192.58.16 (talk) 21:33, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As noted, Neptune's running gear is still around today in Southport. The others, I don't know. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:46, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A quick websearch reveals nothing apart from [1]. An obscure research project for someone (and I can offer a home for anything too much in the direction of OR). Jackiespeel (talk) 16:50, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Following on from the above - should there be some mention of [2] (other sources available). Jackiespeel (talk) 12:05, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
