MariskaNanni, a single-purpose editor, takes issue with the characterization of Roets as a "political activist" and instead wants to call him a "civil rights activist". She points to "credible sources". Problem is, the sourcing in this article is terrible. The current version has 13 sources--one is his dissertation (a primary source which can only verify the title of the dissertation), one is a blurb for a book on the website of a think-tank (an unreliable sources which mentions neither Roets nor AfriForum), one is the legal proceedings against Malema (another primary source), one is a shameless plug for the subject's book, one is a video by AfriForum. Oh, this isn't a reference either--it's a link to the subject's "film".
The other sources are likewise minimal, and don't even establish the subject's notability, let alone paint him as a "civil rights activist"--they establish him as the chairman of AfriForum ([1]) or the author of his book ([2]). In other words, notability itself is questionable. There are plenty of sources for AfriForum being a white nationalist joint, but that's by the by. This article needs serious pruning, and one wonders what is left when the book blurbs, book spam, propaganda videos, and primary material is gone--a redirect to AfriForum, I suspect. Doug Weller, any thoughts? Drmies (talk) 14:13, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Doug Weller, did you see the AfD? It listed three sources: 1. this, a short piece about the book; 2. this, a serious piece that cites him a couple of times, even though one can hardly call this in-depth coverage; 3. this, a pretty serious piece that has more depth to it and actually helps toward notability. BTW I wish that some of these editors here and on AfriForum were as interested in the African Farmers Association. Good people, both sides, yada yada. Drmies (talk) 17:12, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
