One man or two?
[edit]A doubt has been raised; see this unsigned entry in IMSLP. If a better source can be found, it should probably be mentioned in the article.
There's a threadbare article in German Wiki about de:Jürgen Schaarwächter, who is cited in that entry. It contains no useful information, and is unlikely to stay in its present form for long because it's been flagged for copyright infringement. Narky Blert (talk) 14:21, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- I do not think that there is any doubt. I think that he just used the name 'Ernest' on its own in relation to his musical activites to separate them from his profesional activities as a Cotton Merchant. Nearly all Censuses and electoral roles, and national registrations, etc show him under his full name. Note also that his sister, Jessie, refered to him as just 'Ernest' when she called for a return of his manuscripts in the Musical Times, December 1942. Sadly, I have never found out what happeened to his manuscripts after that. I would very much like to arrange a modern performance of his string quartets, which were never published. Although he was well known as a composer in his day, with over 30 works published, I know of no performances in recent years. 86.130.189.51 (talk) 11:04, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Can the template relating to original research be removed? Further references were added on 27 and 28 August. Alan.jones.ski (talk) 11:12, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
