@User:Seasider53 I certainly find it interesting to know that historical figures never married, particularly women (in some cases, lesbians or asexuals) during times when there was often great social pressure to do so. Whatever we personally think, it's not up to us to imply that marriage is a necessity. Unless there's a quote regarding it being a personal choice (see Patricia Routledge), non-marriage shouldn't be mentioned. There was a discussion about it which I'll look up.
