Validity of the Communist South Vietnamese emblem

[edit]

Hello @Quocchunguyen:,

Please take a look at the following link:

There is no evidence for the validity of the emblem of the Republic of South Vietnam being the one depicted in this version. The Việt Cộng emblem works because the Việt Cộng claimed to be the legitimate government and they used the military-style emblems on their documents. --Donald Trung (talk) 08:41, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Fake" Communist emblem on a contemporary document

[edit]

I found a document which shows the disputed Việt Cộng coat of arms at an eBay listing entitled "VINTAGE NATIONAL FRONT THE LIBERSOUTH VIETNAM SAIGON GIADINH REGION CERTIFICATE. - mr.saigon.vietnam 100% Positive feedback - mr.saigon.vietnam (34). - 100% positive feedback". The emblem here resembles the claimed emblem but there's no text on the ribbon. This tells me that the image often claimed to be a fantasy might have some basis in reality, but I (unfortunately) haven't seen many documents issued by the Việt Cộng after the fall of Saigon. --Donald Trung (talk) 19:39, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
