Speedy Deletion
[edit]the only link provided in this aritcle links to a blog advertising a book for sale on amazon. no third party sources are referenced. WookieInHeat (talk) 22:49, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
I am not the creator of this page, but I guess my recent edit triggered this. I believe that the subject is worth an article. There is a third-party reference to Who's Who in America, which I would think would be sufficient to establish notability. She was a Democratic candidate for Congress. There are also four links to this page from other Wikipedia articles. Since when do all references have to be links? I'll try to hunt up some other online references, but good grief! 75.56.56.89 (talk) 23:59, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- a quick search of the prhase "whos who in america" on google turns up 107 million hits; what publication are you refering to exactly? the only actual link to any kind of reference is the link to a blog by the same name as a book for sale on amazon, a book that happens to be authored by the same woman the aritcle is about. would you allow me to roll the article back to stub point? this will remove the advertising as well as the deletion notice. - p.s. even if this article doesn't qualify for speedy deletion under WP:Criteria for speedy deletion, it may still fall under WP:BLP unless the "who's who in america" source can be clarified or you can find another WP:RS. WookieInHeat (talk) 00:14, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've added more references with online links, since you set such store by them. It took two minutes to find them. I don't understand why anyone would call for deletion without first doing a search for references on the subject. I don't have time now to dig up library resources, but Who's Who in America is a standard reference book.

- Of course, the book mentioned is by the same person the article is about -- that's part of her notability, that she edits books. Every article about authors on Wikipedia mentions the names of books, most of which are for sale. I don't see anything wrong with the link to the listing of the book's contents on Frederik Pohl's blog -- that seems less ad-like than a link to the publisher's web site, and from my Googling seems like the most complete listing available. However, I have also added links to book reviews. 75.56.56.89 (talk) 01:55, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
