Year

[edit]

In which year was the hurricane? Warofdreams talk 15:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added it in for now. --Coredesat 15:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Damage images

[edit]

I managed to get two Creative Commons BY-SA-licensed damage images from a user on Flickr, and they're now in the article - feel free to move them around as needed. Once they're situated, you should put this up for GA. --Coredesat 18:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting these. I GAN'd it. Hurricanehink (talk) 20:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Passed

[edit]

This article has passed the GA noms. The following is a semi-auto generated suggestions to bring this article to FA-class.

  • Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (numbers), there should be a non-breaking space -   between a number and the unit of measurement. For example, instead of 750 lbs, use 750 lbs, which when you are editing the page, should look like: 750 lbs.[?]
  • Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (numbers), when doing conversions, please use standard abbreviations: for example, miles -> mi, kilometers squared -> km2, and pounds -> lb.[?]
  • When writing standard abbreviations, the abbreviations should not have a 's' to demark plurality (for example, change kms to km and lbs to lb).
  • Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Build the web, years with full dates should be linked; for example, link January 15, 2006.[?]
  • This article is a bit too short, and therefore may not be as comprehensive as WP:WIAFA critera 1(b) is looking for. Please see if anything can be expanded upon.[?]
  • Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
    • Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “All pigs are pink, so we thought of a number of ways to turn them green.”
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

GA Sweeps Review: Pass

[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have made several minor corrections throughout the article. Altogether the article is well-written and is still in great shape after its passing in 2007. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. It would also be beneficial to go through the article and update all of the access dates of the inline citations and fix any dead links. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 07:42, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
