Edward Thompson Article

[edit]

I have started this talk page for discussion about the article I have wrote. Image are needed for the article, and perhaps improved headings for the information within. I'm hoping to expand on his Engineering pratices pending on more research information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LieLestoSbrat (talkcontribs) 20:01, 2 May 2006‎

Thompson did not introduce steel bodied coaches to the LNER - Gresley did - in fact he experimented with them from the 1920s but they were not cost effective at that time 81.96.49.166 (talk) 11:59, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy

[edit]

Most of this page in relation to Thompson's reputation, the process of his selection for the CME job, the performance of his locomotives, the curcumstances surrounding his rebuilt of Gresley locos, the circumstances of his relationship to the LMS in seeking reports on Gresley locomotives and much more is historically inaccurate.

Page needs a complete overhaul. 1.145.193.88 (talk) 10:32, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of Sources

[edit]

Sorry for the lack of sources in my edit. I have settled on a "good enough" edit for a while now but I haven't finished all the citations. I'm doing my best to cite it from the book by SAC Martin and Tim Hillier-Graves. I understand it's not ideal to have a lot of citations using a few sources but I've not got any other better sources. Should we mention his standardisation plan?

[edit]

Hello,

I didn't read Simon A. C. Martin's book, but in a Railway Mania episode he lists a very small number of classes that he wanted to keep in running order and in storage. 2603:7000:D03A:5895:134F:919:A36B:DBFC (talk) 14:08, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
