In Orkney this is a common name for the highest point on an island as in the past they were used for the lighting of warning beacons - not crystal clear which name is meant - maybe "this last is..." or something....
Attempted.
The largest body of fresh water is Mill Loch - any measurements or anything to give idea of size?
10 ha - done.
Calfsound is the most populous of the settled areas... - the idea of village to me is that it can be pretty small..how many live/how many dwellings in Calfsound?
Ah - the old "village" debate - which also appeared at Talk:Islay recently. I count about 15 or 16 farms/houses, but I'd prefer something a bit more definitive. Nothing to hand and I'll see what I can find.
No obvious source of this info springs to mind. Indulging in a little simple calculation/borderline OR, there are c.100 buildings marked on the 1:50,000 OS map. Some of them are likely to be byres/holiday homes etc., so let's say there are 80 actual houses, with 1.5 people in each. On this basis Calfsound would have between 20 and 35 residents. That's the best I can do for now. Ben MacDui 20:01, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Aah ok. no, I don't think we need to do the OR bit :) Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:41, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
