Somebody fix/remove Schools and Parks and recreation
[edit]I don't know this area, but current info can't be right:
can they afford schools?
they don't have any parks in compton thats why theres so much crime
I have no idea how different Compton is from East Compton (East Rancho Dominguez) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joftheworld (talk • contribs) 05:36, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Zip Code & Location
[edit]As with mostly everything listed on the "East Compton" article; Yuin University is both in the official city of Compton, and also, it is in the unincorporated community of East Compton. Any maps to the contrary are incorrect, because the city officials say otherwise, which is also clearly reflected by the zip code of 90221, which is unique to East Compton. Furthermore, a lot of maps on the internet are inaccurate. The most reliable sources are city officials and the zip code. Therefore, I am putting up a bare listing, and a dispute resolution has been initiated regarding what further information should be included. Tiffspiro (talk) 22:42, 24 September 2010 (UTC)TiffSpiro
- Where have the city officials said that Yuin is in E. Compton? To say that the map on the Compton City website is incorrect seems unfounded. Do you have a better map? [1][2] Yuin's website does not say anything about being in E. Compton either. There is a definite boundary, so it is either in one location or the other - it can't be both places. article naming
[edit]There's clear common usage of "East Compton", even if the official name is "East Rancho Dominguez". Compare this to this. The naming convention for geographic names seems to agree that the commonly-used name should be used on Wikipedia; I'm curious if there is a strong rationale to leave this at "East Rancho Dominguez" (where it was just moved) versus having it at "East Compton" (where it had been since 2002. tedder (talk) 22:46, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- According to the the census bureau, there is no East Compton any more, since East Dominguez Hills is the new official name per the census bureau, that's where the article on a census-designated place ought to be. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 22:48, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- How does that fit in to WP:NCGN? If East Compton became East Rancho Dominguez, that would be worth mentioning on an article about East Compton. tedder (talk) 22:49, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Right now, East Compton is a redirect, since having 2 articles on the place isn't needed. The name East Compton appears in the first sentence of the article, in bold; can't get more prominent than that. Similar to how Danzig redirects to Gdańsk, and Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City.
