Harriman Awards to add to the list.
[edit]Hello - I have no idea how to code, so I hope somone can add this info. I have a 1939 booklet "Along the Right of Way " from the Norfolk & Western railway. Inside, there is a Pic of the Harriman award & a page stating that they won it in 1938. It reads in part...:
"For the second time in 12 years, the American Museum of Safety has awardrd the Harriman Memorial Gold Medal to the Norfolk & Western Railway for the outstanding ssafety record during 1938 among class I railroads of the United States." They transported one million passengers over 86 million mile without incident since 1924. Which is more than 12 years apart, so I'm not sure when the first award was.
I have scanned the page, so if anyone wants it, let me know cause I'm selling the booklet on e-bay. I have also scanned the route map. The booklet is only 4 x 6, so I hope the scans come out well. You can e-mail me at celienet@aol.com. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.212.4.187 (talk) 21:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Way cool, thanks for the info. I'll add the info to the article later tonight. Slambo (Speak) 21:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, so it took me until this morning to add the data, but it's there now. It seems likely to me that the group designations would have been different at that time, so I left the group column empty. When we have a reference showing where the groups were aligned in earlier years, we can add that data then. Slambo (Speak) 11:33, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
I have a Chicago and North Western clock from 1991 that says 1991 Harriman Award 1st Place. Since NS is apparently the Group A winner, what Group would C&NW be placed in? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.21.190.222 (talk) 22:49, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Group B seems likely, but I'd like to see it in a reliable source that can be effectively listed in a footnote (like a press release, trade journal, annual report, etc.) before it's added to the list. Slambo (Speak) 00:27, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
