'The guy'

[edit]

what do you want of me? Well you know your Dutch Gold. I want to discuss how to improve this page. I've removed the reference to this friend of yours, I mean who the hell is he? Cian whatever. I'm thinking of starting similar pages for Tuborg and Pravsky etc, and I want you on board. And register properly. Get a username.

Old Dutch Gold Can picture

[edit]

Please put up a picture of old Dutch before it is extinct. It tastes better you know its true - it's got the added taste of nostalgia.

Tuborg

[edit]

You aritcle is a little inaccurate.

Tuborg is not really a low cost beer in the same manner as the others are. In its home country of Denmark Tuborg is a very respectable beer brewed by Carlsberg and is preferred by many to the more famous Carlsberg.

Recently a fresh attempt has been made to introduce Tuborg into the Irish market..and in order to gain market share have started selling it at a very low price in comparison to other fine beers. As a result Tuborg is often mistaken by the illinformed Irish drinker to be a low cost, and hence low quality beer. Try it and you'll see this is not the case, it is of far superior quality the most of the other low cost beers including 'Dutchie'.

I have tried it. It's not bad, but I still prefer the Dutchie!User:Jayteecork

This is the same for Bavaria Beer, the reference here is to the Irish market, I feel that much has been removed from this page that was of worth. It should be reinstated, but perhaps should be sectionalised into sales districts, e.g. Status of it in Ireland/Status elsewhere

[edit]

I'm not sure what to make of the sentence "Tuborg, a rich pilsner beer from Denmark, drank by royalty."

'Scangers', 'hangover comments'

[edit]

This page needs a lot of work. The reference to what kind of a hangover Tuborg gives you and the constant references to 'scangers', coupled with the quotes at the end are not suitable for an encyclopedia. Adding NPOV dispute header.

Though amusing, this article needs a more serious rewrite.

I do not entirely agree that the female quote is indeed unsuitable. Dutch Gold has a very special place in Irish society. Its acceptance among young female drinkers, (and the acceptance by males that females can drink Dutch Gold and not be unusual), is a major change in Irish culture. For this reason I believe that the courting quote sums up the change extremely well.

I created the Dutch Gold Wiki, and am going to reinstate some of the humour that was removed. Dutch Gold, for those who drink it and are aware of the student/scanger culture, will be fully aware of the silliness that the drink represents. From Scangers drinking on the street to filthy student parties, Dutchie is synomous with a seedy, yet amusing persona. The person who deemed it necessary to remove this content is probably a drinker of Coors Lite or something.User:Jayteecork

Some of the stuff reverted was quite hurtfull and I think far more critical of scangers than students. --TallaghNacker 22:54, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where has this article gone?

[edit]

This article no longer gives an accurate discription of Dutch Gold. Please return it to its previous (full) version

Yes, I think that's a good idea User:Jayteecork

Would anyone agree that this article could do with being cleaned up? --Jasonm 02:37, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Ray D'arcy show

[edit]

Apparently this Dutch gold Wiki (that I created) was mentioned by Ray on his show! Anyone know about it? user:Jayteecork

Tuborg Hat

[edit]

I think a mention of the free tuborg hat should be made the "hat" comes free with the 6 for 7 packs of tuborg, by opening the cardboard in a certain way, if any one has any pics of one (ill look for some of mine too) put them up

this alone has been reason enough for us to buy tuborg over dutch.

also amsterdamn is extremly unpopular with everyone i have ever met due to its vile taste, its not really a challenge for dutch.

Other than that i think this post should keep its humor. Owwmykneecap 01:51, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Phrases in the Vernacular

[edit]

It's staying, please stay away Wikipedia Nazis. Or if you like, while you're at it, please delete poker jargon, Gay slang, Ethnic slurs, World of Warcraft terminology, Sexual slang, Sexual slurs. I'm sure you get my point. Jayteecork 18:41, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with these terms being in but they must be sourced. The author needs to find useage elsewhere on the Internet. BlueValour 19:52, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thats nonsense, they are phrases that are in common use among certain sections of society e.g. the "youth", as I said I have heard and/or used all these phrases, I am not the author so I am at Least one (and there are many) person backing this up, they are common knowledge, anyone else heard them or others add them. Try adding information to articles rather than just deleting infomation you have not come across. Owwmykneecap 21:21, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

This Article has been subjected to constant vanalism by User:Demiurge and User:BlueValour, under the guise of uncited material Everything has been cited, PLEASE stop your rampant deletion of fair work, try adding to pages Owwmykneecap 16:58, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dutch Colloquialisms

[edit]

I can confirm these so called "euphemisms"... for proof please review April 2005 hot press edition. Article, "New Slang Bangs", Page 27. Reference to several of the mentioned Slang terms used by youths. also check the 'National Drug Strategy and Drugs Awareness Campaign' informative leaflet on "alcohol & your children" Dmolloy36 15:17, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hot press isnt subscription only....walk down to your local newsagents... Owwmykneecap 15:30, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Student Drinking

[edit]

There has been a "move away from Student drinking culture in Ireland" ...... please explain!!?? That definitely needs a citation! Terrytwo (talk) 22:12, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed - reference 5 refers. Smile a While (talk) 01:02, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

The section regarding the "deals" one can purchase a six pack of Dutch for x EUR, etc. reads (to me at least) very much like a promotional section, possibly written by someone with a financial interest in ensuring that a certian beer sells well. Although I personally think it's wonderful that 8 cans of Dutch Gold can now be purchased for 8 euro (forgive me, I'm a student) I don't believe I should be discovering this from an encyclopedia. I propose that the promotional language/price details should be deleted. Surely it's enough to mention that this beer is aimed at the lower-end of the market without actually giving the price? Rubensni (talk) 01:29, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am delighted that you found the page useful :-) Seriously, though, I agree about the promotional nature and I've cleaned it up. Smile a While (talk) 19:24, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Availability in other markets

[edit]

We have Dutch Gold in Jersey, Channel Islands - it seems it is not solely available in Ireland.

This version is 4.2% ABV, and comes in 50cl cans. Want a photo? Robbill99 (talk) 20:30, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes please. Do you know the distributor, please? Just Chilling (talk) 23:31, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
