Talk:Dungeon Fighter Online

[edit]I added a section on the multi-player aspects of the game. I felt it was warranted because the description section that includes the platform, ratings, and requirements says that it's a multi-player game, yet none of the multi-player functionality has been referenced. I also updated the class section to state the different classes, and removed the Gunner example to reduce bias towards one class over another. I see that no one has taken ownership of this page, and I am willing to do so. --Arlondiluthel 17:20, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]The class name “Fighter” is too comprehensive, so I suggest that the name “Martial artist” replace the awkward official name “Fighter”. -- Nerocyan 07:42, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
I think the content is getting too long. I think the detailed skill description doesn't need to be recorded here. How about replacing it with a simple summary about the skill system in this game? -- Nerocyan 15:33, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I concede. But a massive sandbox draft will have to be made. Since I'm an actual player of this game, could I see the draft? Leave a message on my talk page. Executor Tassadar (talk) 09:58, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah... I think there is way too much detailed info on here. I feel like im reading a FAQ on how to play the game rather than an article explaining what the game is.
I've went though this article, I find it very interesting for a wikipedia article to say that handcannons are good weapons for rangers.
Though it's true that they're great when you need power in close-range, but this sort of information shouldn't be on Wikipedia. People want to go to Wikipedia for quick information about things they are looking up, and that's what Wikipedia is meant for, quick information.
All we need are quick, simple descriptions for what the subclasses are. Anything beyond describing the niche of skills they get, should be left to a place like DFO-world wiki.
And even more specific information about a subclass could be found through community sites like the official Nexon forums or DFOsource forums.
Now if somebody wouldn't mind editing this... I don't wanna do anything too drastic as a guest. 67.168.176.205 (talk) 04:39, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

September 2008
[edit]Article says "An English version was announced in September 2008" but the earliest English source I found is late March 2009 which is around the time I heard about this game. Can anyone confirm? Rezumop (talk) 23:06, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind. Looking in the history, the date was changed by a vandal. I'll be reverting it back to March 2009. --Rezumop (talk) 19:52, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Vandals and Others
[edit]I recently deleted some stuff from the criticisms part in the article, mostly the (opinion) the (same 30 people) and all the PS garbage below. I'm new to this game, and as such don't have an opinion one way or the other on what they were saying, but that doesn't belong on the page. It is Criticisms not fact, as such they can post that they believe some things are wrong with the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.136.36 (talk) 23:27, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Rewrite!
[edit]Hello. I don't have an account here, and I couldn't stand to see this page in shambles. I thought the page was really lacking and not very informative about how each class plays. I didn't think using the character's lore to describe their playstyle was a good idea (Asura is a slayer who is blind, yadda yadda), so I separated them (Asura wears Plate Armor, has good AoE and projectiles, etc). I haven't written the lore for the characters yet, but I hope someone will continue and add a brief summary to each class without using it to describe their playstyle (>_<). I rewrote each class save for the Thief (never played DnF, so I have no idea about her backstory and playstyle) with the intent of laying out a good foundation. I should definitely have worded some things differently, but I guess that's the result of my own bias. I did try to keep everything as consistent as possible as well, but it does need some more work. Anyways, I leave the rest up to you~ - Nu Gundam [From Nexon Forums] (November 30, 2009) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.222.106.58 (talk) 19:24, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Nu Gundam here again, I formatted Slayer properly and included the basic storyline behind the class. The rest needs a lot of work, and the Priest section needs their awakening classes mentioned. Nu Gundam once again. Yesterday, I formatted the Gunner section to closely follow the Slayer's. I think it came out nicely. I don't have any Fighter/Mage characters, so I was unable to do the same for them. As for Priest, I don't remember the storylines behind the subclass advancements, so I left them as they were. (December 2, 2009)
Cleanup help please!
[edit]I've been playing DFO for a suitably long time, enough to reformat the class sections (I've just finished the with Slayer section, and now it's been divided according to subclass and updated with more accurate information). Would any other players like to assist and/or look over my work? I'm proceeding to the Fighters as of 5/20. —Preceding unsigned comment added by R-mored (talk • contribs) 19:53, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Hello again, to whoever would ever want to read this; completely rewrote the Exorcist section based on observing and playing as one, based my rational to do so on me feeling like the previous version of the section was lacking, confusing, and unfairly scoffed at Magical Exorcists. R-mored (talk) 01:26, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Redid certain parts concerning mechanics; I dramatically expanded the Gameplay section, feel free to tell me/edit out what you think is too cumbersome in reading. R-mored (talk) 01:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Beginning of Skill Point section
[edit]The beginning of the skill point system has the following line: "Like Nexon's other flagship title, Maplestory, Dungeon Fighter Online uses a skill point system." This should be removed. MapleStory's "skill point system" is NOTHING like DFO's, and this is very misleading. In DFO, you gain SP through doing various things like questing, killing monsters, etc, and you spend those points on skills. The point requirements change, the amount you need is vastly different, etc. In MapleStory, you simply get 3 SP a level, and 1 SP = one skill point. You don't gain extra, you do not get freebies for doing quests, and you don't get SP just through getting some EXP. You ONLY get 3 a level, while in DFO you can get hundreds a level, and their costs are different. This is misleading, and I believe it should be removed, because it is confusing for anyone who has played MS but not DFO. The text implies that they use the same system, when they do not. The systems are not even closely related, the only relation is the term SP. Polantaris (talk) 10:56, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Original Publisher/Developer
[edit]It's a rough area now that it's about 11 years old, but from my recollection the original Korean publisher for D&F was Samsung Electronics, not Hangame/NHN. There are some sources like this one. NHN took over in mid-2006, and Neople remained independent until the Nexon buyout.
The development area is even murkier. In pure technical terms, if I recall correctly the original developers were Adrenaline Shock Studio and another studio (J Shock?) with Neople holding the copyright for the game itself, though they do credit Adrenaline Shock Studio in the earlier artworks.
Just some info for any brave editors willing to spend time digging deep into history for the game. Ryan Norton 00:11, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
