dressing like a teenager

[edit]

Something about Mei's appearance bothered me from the start. I finally realized that she dressed like a teenager. That is, even though she looks like a twenty something, her clothes seem inappropriate for her apparent age. Those clothes would be more appropriate on a 14 year old girl. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.94.176.22 (talk) 07:12, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chicken embryos

[edit]

In the film Mr. Li is seen eating chicken embryos. From what I've heard young girls eat the chicken embryos to make them more beautiful. I've never eaten one, but the ones the street vendors sell smell horrible.—added by 66.94.176.22 (talk) 07:09, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

longevity treatments

[edit]

This film is full of people shown trying to prolong life or look younger with exercises, facials, hair dressers, chemotherapy, etc. Of course eating embryos would be a metaphor for stem cell research too.

I think it is more than a horror film. It is a morality play that very closely shows the obsession with youth. At one point Autie Mei says that all we can do is try to enjoy life. This reminds me of the beer commercial philosophy that we only go around once; so grab all the gusto. In contrast buddhist philosophy would argue that we go around many times, so lead a good life.—added by 66.94.176.22 (talk) 07:09, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Krazy Kripples

[edit]

This plot sounds a little like South Park's Krazy Kripples. --Abdull 12:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It might be. I think it's a coincidence. --Coolspanner 11:35, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
