Merge

[edit]

Propse the merge as simply the new station is just a resiting of the current one. Simply south (talk) 21:12, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not convinced a merge is appropriate. The 1989 station was a basic single platform station. The 2010 station is 550m east and is to be a double platform station with footbridge, lifts, booking office, car park. Really a new faciity on a new site, so deserves a new article. --Stewart (talk | edits) 08:37, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with the proposed merge. Whilst I accept Stewart's point that the new station is going to be significantly different and located some distance from the old one, it is still going to be the railway station serving Drumgelloch and both the new and old stations will have a lot in common in terms of history. When that is considered, I don't think covering the subject of the old station in the article about the new one will be an issue. If you compare what the articles have in common is becomes clear that merging details of the old station into the new article wouldn't have a very big impact. Regardless of whether a merge in any form goes ahead, I would suggest the article about the new station be moved to simply Drumgelloch railway station and the article about the old station moved to Drumgelloch railway station (1989) or similar. Adambro (talk) 08:58, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with Adambro that the article names should be renamed, with that for the 1989 being renamed as suggested and the new station taking the existing name. There is also may be a case of considering what is happening at Bathgate with the various articles there. --Stewart (talk | edits) 12:54, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In theory, the New Drumgelloch station is replacing the old Clarkston station on the Bathgate_and_Coatbridge_Railway. So a merge might not be appropriate as the "old" Drumgelloch wasn't a replacement of Clarkston. Reawakening discussion

[edit]

This discussion seems to have gone cold. I agree with Simply south and Adambro that separate articles are unnecessary and that a merger should take place. I'll mention this at WT:UKT. --RFBailey (talk) 23:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If a merge does take place it should be between Drumgelloch (New) and Clarkston are they are almost the same site, whilst the earlier Drumgelloch is sufficeiently separated by distance to merit its onwn article. --Stewart (talk | edits) 11:39, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Closure

[edit]

From the 9th of May 2010, the station has closed to allow upgrade works between Airdrie and Drumgelloch. Buses will replace trains until the new station opens in December. I have updated the article to reflect this. 94.171.20.201 (talk) 16:42, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
