What experiment?

They may be referring to how some NASA representatives didn't believe that the low density foam could break the thermal shielding of the leading edge of the wing of Columbia. So they tried shooting a piece of foam at a replica of the wing, which resulted in a large hole in the wing. Although, I wasn't aware that he was the instigator of that experiment, I thought it was just the part of the investigation in general. 24.201.18.145 (talk) 16:26, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
