Debby Safranski's book

This book, Safranski, Debby Burnett, "Angel of Andersonville, Prince of Tahiti: The Extraordinary Life of Dorence Atwater," Alling-Porterfield Publishing House, 2008, ISBN 978-0-9749767-1-6, is a work of historical fiction right, right?- This book calls Moetia, the baby sister of Pomare V and his heir, which is why this article originally incorrectly called Moetia an heir to the Tahitian throne when in fact she was the older sister of the King's wife. -KAVEBEAR (talk) 08:05, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

this article needs a major overhaul or deletion

I actually registered a new account just to voice my dissatisfaction with this article. This is worse than most articles on joke wikis. The whole thing reads like History Channel daytime scripting and is full of inane details like: "He designed and planted a garden for a neighbor, and for this, too, he had a natural gift. His sister Fanny once said of Dorence's mischievousness, 'Whenever he and I were playing at something we weren’t allowed, invariably I got caught while Dorr simply vanished into thin air.'" The only cited reference is a trashy paperback written by a relative of Atwater. This article is just fine as it stands, although additional information is helpful for any article. The content is informative; the organization is helpful; and the tone is respectful. The style and detail of the prose is appropriate to the time period it is representing. Lead section

Article written by self-published descendant

This article has the tone and details more appropriate to a family history or children's book than to an encyclopedia article. No surprise - it was written almost entirely by one editor,[1][2] Basafran (talk · contribs), who cited only one source: a self-published book by Debby Safranski. Safranski was a descendant of Atwater's whose main occupation was running a dance studio.[3] With respect to Basafran's contribution, it's not the normal Wikipedia material. IMO, this article should be stripped down to those elements that can be cited to more acceptable, if dry, sources, like the NPS bio.[4] Mobi Ditch (talk) 01:40, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Which Florence?
