Capp quote including "stone-age"
[edit]@KellyACox: Regarding this edit, the quote was added by an IP editor in 2008. That edit included two references, but neither include that quote. The IP editor (64.236.243.16) seems to have made many productive edits, but has not been active since 2010 under that address.
A web search for the quote has many results. The first I found were:
- http://tomakincommunityassociation.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Tomakin-The-Undiscovered-History.pdf
- https://theabandonedcarousel.com/dogpatch-usa/
- https://www.times-news.com/opinion/it-wasnt-worthless-but-home-to-a-national-hero/article_f4058d2c-7921-11e7-b910-bf4547222b11.html
- https://boundbyfive.wordpress.com/
However, those all postdate the text being added to the Wikipedia article and none source the quote. You are right that the cartoon was not set in the literal "stone-age", but that might have been a rhetorical device. We can't change Capp's words though if that's what he said. I think we're best off just removing the quote if we can't find a source. I'll do that now, but we can add it back if someone finds a source.
I'm open to other ideas. Thank you, SchreiberBike | ⌨ 22:23, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
