False Claim: "They became the first Western students of the 16th Karmapa in 1969."
[edit]This claim in the article, based on a WP:SPS, is plain wrong. In fact, the Nydahls arrived only 9 years after the first Westerner became a student of the Karmapa, Freda Bedi in 1960. Tenzin Palmo another British woman and student of the Karmapa, arrived 1963 in India. The Karmapa ordained Bedi in 1966 and Tenzin Palmo in 1967. So when the Nydahls met the Karmapa there were already Westerners long before them. I changed the passage respectively. - Just for sake of transparency. I forgot to logout as User:Waschi – a user name I use for another language version of Wikipedia. User:Waschi is therefore not a sock puppet of me but just another account for another language version of Wikipedia which I forgot to logout from when making the changes. Adding information and sources about Ole Nydahl's sexual abuse and his cult he's built up around himself
[edit]The part which was removed by other editors. Please help to bring up to scratch for the article: There is also a lot of well-sourced information about Ole Nydahl's controversies on the Ole Nydahl page which really needs to be added to this article also, since he is the leader and founder of this cult, it's important at least some of the controversies are mentioned. It's a shame this article seems to have been whitewashed of all criticism (Personal attack removed)
Sexual Abuse and Cult Accusations
[edit]Ole Nydahl has admitted having sexual relationships with his female followers. When confronted about this in an interview, he simply said "There’s no teacher-student relationship involved in that. They’re Diamond Way Buddhists, but they’re not my students in that moment. They’re equal partners.".[1][2] There have also been many who have claimed Ole Nydahl's Diamond Way group is a cult.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]
