I also agree. Shmygal is the Russian transliteration. It shouldn't apply to a Ukrainian surname. Definitely should be changed to Shmyhal. YantarCoast (talk) 09:45, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved it but I didn't see the discussion so it still may be continued. My point is that the Ukrainian "г" applies to fricative [ɣ], it's not same with Russian [g] (there it is also indicated by "г"). So of course Shmyhal is more correct. We can't transribe the given name from Ukrainian and the surname from Russian within the same line. --Wolverène (talk) 08:01, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

NO, he is not Jewish! According to that New York Times article, of 24 April 2019, the Jewish prime minister was Volodymyr Groysman, who did NOT stay on once Zelensky was sworn in. Typo in opening paragraph

The last sentence of the first paragraph should say "the Honcharuk Government" rather than merely "Honcharuk Government". Dubious claims about heritage

A Jerusalem Post article quoting an Islamic scholar and claiming that Shmyhal is Jewish is not a reliable source. There is no primary or reliable source that mention Shmyhal being of Jewish heritage and it is not mentioned in the Ukrainian or Russian Wikipedia articles either. You are correct, Rahammz! Denys Shmyhal is NOT Jewish. This New York Times article, of 24 April 2019, does not even mention Shmyhal's name. It refers to Volodymyr Groysman, who was Shmyhal's predecessor as Prime Minister of Ukraine. I read a Jerusalem Post article that referred to the "Jewish Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Grossman" with a publication date in late 2018. I haven't seen any source regarding Shmyhal's heritage being Jewish, anywhere.--FeralOink (talk) 15:43, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
