This is an article about a real thing
[edit]- Defiance is a real TV show that exists in the world. It is not a fictional anything. Articles about real things that exist should not be categorized as fictional ANYTHING.
- Real things like comic books and TV shows contain any number of fictional elements. They should be categorized by exactly none of them. Categorizing real things as fictional things improperly blends things, causes confusion to readers and will result in category clutter as more and more Fictional Foos categories are added to real things.
- Can you please explain what the difficulty is with this concept, that this real thing keeps being added to categories for not real things? Jerry Pepsi (talk) 17:04, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- "Defiance" (in the fictional universe of this show) meets a reasonable definition for "fictional city states of the US". It is thus reasonable to categorize it as such.
- The name in the category is Defiance (TV series), where the name of the state is merely "Defiance". There is a reasonable argument that the name categorized should instead be Defiance (fictional city-state). If it were called Pepsylvania (fictional city-state) in the show Sheer Bloody Obstinacy (TV series), then this would be an argument with some weight behind it. We could certainly create such a redirect to be categorized in such a way (and we often do). However this is just a disambiguator. I see no value in creating it; by your action in simply removing it (rather than creating the redirect) I don't see that you do either. Andy Dingley (talk) 18:25, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- Concur with Jerry. This article is about the tv show, not the city/state. That the two happen to have the same name is coincidental. Batman does not belong in the fictional cities, even though Gotham City does. Gaijin42 (talk) 18:31, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Source of "Setting" section
[edit]I read the "Setting" section of the page and it mentions the back story of the show. Where the Voltan came from, The Pale War, the collapse of government, how things became mutated, etc
I'm curious what the source of this information is? I watched the entire first season and most of the information in this section is never mentioned. --Jimv1983 (talk) 04:03, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- One would assume the information comes from the accompanying video game. 100.35.4.40 (talk) 06:49, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Opinions are needed on the following matter: Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Television#WP:Prose vs. table format for cast lists. A WP:Permalink for it is here. Flyer22 (talk) 06:12, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
