Lead section has extra information
[edit]I have tagged the lead section of this article as having extra information. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It provides an accessible overview that is the summary of the whole article. Information in the lead should be in the body of the article too. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY. For this article, only the lead section says when the suspects were arrested and that was as a result of a tip-off from Mossad. Also the lead says that both the suspects were Iranian members of Quds Force, while the body of the article says one suspect was, but doesn't mention their nationality and only implies the suspects came from Turkey. A reader who is not familiar with Iranian intelligence services needs far more information in the article to orient them to understand why the information mentioned is significant. Otherwise the reader is left wondering what were these people doing? and why were they arrested? Also, who and where were the targets of this plot? And how is this terrorism? - Cameron Dewe (talk) 20:21, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- I dont think its necessary to add more information about quds further than that it is a Special Operations Force of the IRGC. The sources provided however do clearly state at least one of the members' names and has his passport, I have also added that Israeli businessmen were the intented targets. ShovelandSpade (talk) 06:35, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- But that is exactly the information the reader needs in the article to understand what Quds Force are; that they are a Special Operations Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Readers should not have to follow hyper-text links to find out information that is relevant to the article, because Wikipedia is not a link farm. The sources are there to verify the information in the article, not contain the information that ought to be in the article. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:52, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- I mean ive already stated theyre a SOF force of the IRGC, maybe I should add that Iran has bren trying to undermine Israel in other countries via attempted assassinations and terror attacks elsewhere but I dont think adding anymore is related to this article.
