Is Syed Hamid Hussain's role in the Bacha Khan University attack "substantial"? This was derived from a merge discussion on the attack's talk page in reference to WP:BLP1E point 3. 03:12, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

No his actions did not alter the notability of the event. Some news sources and interviews have speculated that he saved a life(s), but this seems small in comparison to the 20 people who died. I think his role was fairly minor. Jolly Ω Janner 03:16, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes: As per reliable sources, his role was significant. The attack was at the scale of 2014 Peshawar school massacre and while in that attack 148 people were killed but 22 were killed in the attack in which Syed Hamid Hussain fought back. There were 8 to 10 perpetrators who were restricted to 22 killings while there were less perpetrators in Peshawar school attack and they were able to kill 148, the school is located in a rather significantly more secure area (an Army cantonment) while University is not so this kind of gives a weight to people who fought back in a timely manner. • So you're suggesting his actions saved the lives of 100 people? Or at least comparing it to something like that. Do you have any reliable sources which support this ridiculous speculation? It's also been noted that there were security guards in the death toll at Bach Khan University. Surely they were responsible? As far as I can tell from the sources, Hussain didn't even manage to fire a shot let alone injure or kill any of the perpetrators. Jolly Ω Janner 07:39, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes: There are reliable sources pertaining to his role. Fraulein451 (talk) 02:57, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
