Death and state funeral of Wellington → Death and state funeral of the Duke of Wellington – Proper styling of the individual. 2601:249:9301:D570:E893:471F:37FA:20FE (talk) 02:37, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support WP:TITLE WP:CONSISTENCY In ictu oculi (talk) 09:42, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- No real objection. I went with plain "Wellington" for the sake of brevity and in the UK at least, it's his commonly recognizable name; see for example, "Wellington boot" not "Duke of Wellington's boot" and beef Wellington not "beef Duke of Wellington". See also Wellington Arch, Wellington Monument, Somerset, Wellington's Column, Wellington Barracks, etc, etc. But I have no strong feeling either way. Alansplodge (talk) 18:01, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- The difference here is that the article title is specifically referring to the individual, while the other articles refer to colloquialisms derived from his name. It's the reason why articles like State funeral of John F. Kennedy are at that name and not something like "State funeral of JFK." 2601:249:9301:D570:AC5D:3290:A9CD:41BB (talk) 18:32, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support move to Death and state funeral of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington per WP:TITLE and WP:CONSISTENT. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 18:55, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support move to Death and state funeral of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, per Neveselbert. BD2412 T 02:17, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support move to Death and state funeral of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. I'd thought about opening up this exact RM a few weeks ago myself, so of course it has my support. Tim O'Doherty (talk) 15:46, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support as proposed - While "the Duke of Wellington" is less WP:PRECISE than "Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington", he is the primary topic for Duke of Wellington and the only of the Dukes to have a state funeral, it is more WP:CONCISE. Estar8806 (talk) 21:59, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom. I see no need to add his name or ordinal. He's the only Duke of Wellington most people have heard of and the only one who had a state funeral. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:18, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Support as proposed. The Goldilocks option, with neither too little nor too much detail; cf. the four articles with titles beginning "Equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington". The first duke is the primary topic for "Duke of Wellington" and is easily identified in these contexts by his title alone, without the personal name or ordinal.
