Map
[edit]The name of the Kingdom on the map is wrong: "Nanzhao" instead of "Dali". How revert to the old version of the map (with the right name)? Polybe 17:23, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Indeed the map shows the Dali kingdom to overtake the Viet , Hmong , Lao .. South east of "Pagan" (a kingdom in what is now the very south west china)
The map of the Nanzhao e kingomd shows Nanzhao north west of Pagan..... I understand some blur as outer fringers are hardly garrisones / policed... no real physical border and the fringes are filled by ethnics who saddle the border.
But moving the entire lot completely to the otherside of different kingdom ? One or the other is wrong. The contradictor map is http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Premongol.png

Nomenclature
[edit]It may very well be that the English common name is Dali. All the same, we don't say Daming, Daqing, &c. The thing was Great Li. — LlywelynII 04:11, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

- Anon, I'm not sure what the links are supposed to prove since I had already noted the common English name was "Dali". On the other hand, it seems I was mistaken since Da Li certainly sounds like a dynastic name but China Knowledge seems to imply the name of the city predated the kingdom and gave it its name, rather than the other way around. — LlywelynII 05:11, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

"enfeoffed"
[edit]OED has enfeoff as a synonym under the entry for enfief, but no entry for enfeoff. Readers will be more familiar with fief, as in fiefdom, etc. Mathyeti (talk) 22:33, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Famed for its high quality marble, Dali (dàlǐ 大理) literally means "marble" in Chinese.
no, 大理石 (Dali stone) is marble. no one removes the word stone when speaking of marble. 119.236.47.178 (talk) 01:29, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
