"STUDIO ALBUMS" =

[edit]

1. SHE'S SO UNUSUAL (1983) 2. TRUE COLORS (1986) 3. A NIGHT TO REMEMBER (1989) 4. HAT FULL OF STARS (1993) 5. SISTERS OF AVALON (1996) 6. BRING YA TO THE BRINK (2008)

HOLIDAY ALBUM: 1. MERRY CHRISTMAS...HAVE A NICE LIFE (1998)

STANDARD/COVER ALBUM: 1. AT LAST (2003)

EPS/UNOFFICIAL RELEASE: 1. SHINE (2004)

COMPILATION/RE-RECORDINGS: 1. THE BODY ACOUSTIC (2005)

If you read interview with Cyndi Lauper, she clearly acknowledges Sisters of Avalon as her last official studio album before Bring Ya to the Brink. She said Merry Christmas... to Body Acoustic were all SIDE-PROJECTS! so I don't think it should be listed under her studio albums. I know we all want her to have 10 albums but one is a Christmas album, One is standard cover album (re-recordings of other hits considered Standard album), One EP that was later released in Japan as full album (doesnt count here) and One album that has re-recorded tracks of previously released songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Light.darkness09 (talkcontribs) 22:57, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Just because an artist doesn't consider something a true body of work doesn't mean it doesn't meet the parameters that define a body of work. This reminds me very much of how Lady Gaga said in interviews that The Fame Monster was an album, regardless of the 8 song track listing that defined it as an Extended Play. The Fame Monster is still an EP regardless of what the artist's opinion of it is, the same goes for Shine, The Body Acoustic, At Last, and Merry Christmas... Have a Nice Life, they are what they are by definition, regardless of how the artist perceived them.--LurganShmith (talk) 20:19, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Compilations"

[edit]

I have made a similar edit numerous times and no one seems to be listening. "The Body Acoustic" is not even REMOTELY a "compilation album"; the very definition of "compilation" means to COMPILE previously released work. All of the records on "Acoustic" are ORIGINAL RECORDINGS, even if the SONGS were released previously in other formats. Midnightguinea 07:23, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is also some inaccuracy here in terms of the "Shine" releases. Because the album was temporarily shelved in 2001, they instead released a five track E.P. in the USA called "Shine"; later that year they released a remix single called "Shine Remixes" with totally different artwork and tracks. Years later they released the Japan exclusive full length album. Midnightguinea 07:34, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done I corrected the problems with Shine's release in this article. However, The Body Acoustic's validity as either a studio or compilation album is still debatable.--LurganShmith (talk) 20:00, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason why this collection album is missing: http://new.music.yahoo.com/cyndi-lauper/albums/very-best-of-cyndi-lauper--196062600 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.246.128.79 (talk) 21:04, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done It primarily wasn't there because Wikipedia guidelines tell you not to crowd a discography page with excessive greatest hits albums, but I added it anyway since it was somewhat unique, part of a compilation series that has many articles on Wikipedia, and because it has an AllMusic.--LurganShmith (talk) 21:18, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The World is Stone

[edit]

This single bombed in Australia. It didn't go to number six. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.194.148.129 (talk) 20:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can confirm this. It didn't hit the Top 100 at all, let alone the Top 10! (Pwhytcross (talk) 11:21, 17 June 2008 (UTC)).[reply]

I'm in Australia and I bought the single! You could list sales and have one (1) confirmed copy sold at least lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.186.228.9 (talk) 04:06, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done I didn't do it, but looks like it's been done awhile now, I just felt the need to post here that it "had" been done since this talk page is so neglected. --LurganShmith (talk) 20:08, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unincluded Albums & Extended Plays

[edit]

The Blue Angel

[edit]

-Cyndi was a member of Blue Angel, an unsuccessful group from the late late 70's to very early 80's. They released a self titled album Blue Angel (1980). Even Cyndi lists it in her discography http://cyndilauper.com/music-list/ . I think it should be listed here.

Feels Like Christmas

[edit]

Cyndi also released a Holiday EP on July 1, 2001, entitled "Feels Like Christmas".

Songs

[edit]

It contained 6 songs from Merry Christmas... Have a Nice Life; "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", "Minnie and Santa", "December Child", "Christmas Conga", "Silent Night". The title track "Feels Like Christmas" was from her album "Hat Full of Stars", but also appeared on Merry Christmas... Have a Nice Life.

It also contained "The World Is Stone" from the Tycoon soundtrack. The song was also featured on her complication Hey Now! (Remixes & Rarities).

It also included the previously unreleased B-side from Cyndi's Album True Colors, "Heading for the Moon"

Done Feels Like Christmas has been added to the new Extended Plays sections, and a link for further information has been added to the top of the article linking to the Blue Angel's discography.--LurganShmith (talk) 20:04, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Did She's So Unusual sold 22 millions?

[edit]

The Independent seems to have exaggerated sales, perhaps the album has sold 22 million along with the singles. Other sources always talk 16 millions, which seems true, since the album was not as well in Europe. The oficial Website says 16 millions...

"You Make Loving Fun"

[edit]

Released in 1977? Isn't that the release date of the original by Fleetwood Mac? As far as I can see, the Lauper version was released in 1984 (and possibly only in Japan, on Jam Spot). It appears to have had a second release in Japan in 1989 (on Vavan Media). Skinsmoke (talk) 03:32, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
