Merger proposal

The result of this discussion was merge. Consensus to merge the pages after the class assignment period was completed. Prior to the merge, the souce page Biosynthesis of Cyclopiazonic Acid was moved to Biosynthesis of cyclopiazonic acid to address the title format capitalization issue. It is proposed (originally by Boghog) that Biosynthesis of Cyclopiazonic Acid be merged into Cyclopiazonic acid. The parent article is a one-paragraph stub, thus no need for a WP:SPINOUT or WP:SPINOFF if most of the content about the compound on Wikipedia is about the biosynthesis – it should all be located at the parent page, as it is instead a WP:CONTENTFORK. Additionally, the capitalized title of the biosynthesis page does not follow WP:TITLEFORMAT and should be moved to the proper format if kept. Mdewman6 (talk) 19:17, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for waiting for my response (@Boghog:) (@Mdewman6:). This is a class assignment so please do not merge.

This is good content, but should exist as a main section in the article about the compound since this is currently the main content about the compound on Wikipedia. The content can be kept intact, just moved to a new location, with a redirect from the current title, which should serve the purposes of the assignment. In any case, this discussion should remain open without merging for at least 7 days per WP:MERGECLOSE to allow other editor input. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:01, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that content should be merged. The place for it would be the more generic title of Cyclopiazonic acid. And Mdewman6 is right about Biosynthesis of Cyclopiazonic Acid becoming a major section in the article. The section should have the header "Biosynthesis". If class assignment assessment is needed, you can go to the history and look for the revision before merging. But Wikipedia works by allowing others to improve what is there, and writing does not just become frozen in place forever. So class assignment planning will have considered this already. It is usually best to discuss the title of new work up-front to see if the topic is suitable, or if there is a better place to put it. Merging does not have to take place immediately.
