[edit]It would be great to have a list of the different organisations carrying out the cyberwarfare, eg 3PLA, 4PLA, the GSD, the MSS, the Strategic Support Force (总参谋部, 中央军事委员会联合参谋部, 战略支援部队, ——总参二部). --Bacon Man (talk) 11:11, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- The People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force (SSF) was the primary cyberwarfare organization until April 2024. The 2022 annual report to U.S. Congress by USCC identifies on page 442 and Appendix III some PLA units or APTs (advanced persistent threat) under the SSF. Thanks. Lawmakers Urge Action on Hacking December 22, 2011 by Siobhan Gorman,
Lawmakers on Wednesday seized on revelations that hackers based in China broke into the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's computer network to demand legislation bolstering government and private-sector cybersecurity. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R., Mich.) said the breach at the business-lobbying group showed that the private sector needs better information to defend its computer networks. "Incidents like this show that while the private sector already does much to secure its networks, it needs much clearer authority to detect threats and share information, and needs better access to what the U.S. government knows about dangerous cyber threats," he ...

Dubious Language in Organization Section
[edit]The section "Organization" uses weasel words. Surely we can do better than "details are sketchy" and the passivity of "it is understood...". Also, the text says "China organises...." when it might be more correct to say "China categorises...", especially since the third tier of cyberattacks are those coming from outside of any possible government sanction. Even better would be some effort to distinguish what we mean when we talk about China, since--oddly enough--it is not a monolith. I would also like to suggest that this section be renamed to "Background". 24.20.45.251 (talk) 22:03, 9 May 2016 (UTC) eriol11

Merger proposal
[edit]Because cyberwarfare is conducted by (or on behalf of) intelligence agencies it seems absurd to me to keep the article "Chinese intelligence activity abroad" and the article "Chinese cyberwarfare" separate.
This article should be merged with Chinese intelligence activity abroad.
