DYK

[edit]

I thought this article had DYK potential but it was too short. I expanded it greatly. Shaundakulbara 13:44, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Curb feelers on buses?

[edit]

I have worked as a bus driver for a few years now, driving all kinds of types (city, inter-urban, tourist coaches etc..) and I have never seen curb feelers on a bus. I suspect this is because they offer very little extra protection (practically all buses have tyre walls and a ride height that is higher than that of the curb) and vision in bus mirrors is far better than cars. There would also be the risk of rapping the passengers waiting for the bus over the feet. /probell (Talk) 19:04, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only on 50s hot rods?

[edit]

Why don't cars today have curb feelers? Were they superseded by another feature, or did they just go the way of the dodo with the 50s hot rod aesthetic? I remember scraping a few curbs while parking and thinking that just such a thing would be helpful. -Toptomcat (talk) 03:46, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On motorcycles? I don't think so

[edit]

If you read the link for the motorcycle citation you'll see that the item is named "curb feeler" as a joke. It's not a genuine curb feeler. If I hear no objections within a month I will be deleting that section. Metalello (talk) 13:55, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

History Lost

[edit]

Ask your fellow citizens who are 40 or years old and younger about curb feelers. You will likely receive a blank stare. As the Old Coots die off there will be an ever-decreasing number of humans who know what a curb feeler is. Some day, the last survivor of those carrying knowledge of curb feelers will die. It is doubtful that the media of that time well record that moment.Obbop (talk) 14:44, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
