Proposed Deletion Claims
[edit]@SparklingSnail has made a number of incorrect claims when proposing that this page be deleted. I will address each claim in turn:
-"This article is an orphan, as no other articles link to it." - This claim was true at the time but only because I had just started work on the article. I have since introduced links to the article on Suicide Squeeze Records and post-punk pages and will add more soon.
-"The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for music." This article meets multiple notability guidelines. The band has been the subject of numerous non-trivial articles in independent publications including heavy hitters like Vogue and The Fader. There is plenty of coverage of this band in the media to meet notability, there are entire articles dedicated to individual members of the band even! What was the point of claiming this if you didn't do minimal amount of research yourself?? On top of that, the band is signed to a well-known independent music label that has its own Wikipedia page. I have edited the article to add this information which I would've done anyway soon enough.
-"This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or by someone connected to the subject." - This claim is completely baseless and I struggle to imagine how the user came up with it. For over a decade I have focused on writing article about artists who are female, queer, people of color, or otherwise from a marginalized backgrounds. I do this for artists in a multitude of fields from music to comedy, film, literature, and fine art. I authored the original article for Eric André, Kate Berlant, Sam Jay, Eliza Legzdina, Pixel Grip, Brendan O'Hare, Megan Ellison, Bogosav Živković, Dominik Lang, Alejandro Zambra, Dulcé Sloan, Nicolás Pereda, The Funkees, Day Wave, Joseph Crepin, Elspeth Davie, Rafael Bernal. cumgirl8 fits into my chosen editorial agenda on Wikipedia and there is no grounds to accuse me of being connected to the subject in any way whatsoever. Frankly, I find it offensive to suggest otherwise.
- "Some of this article's listed sources may not be reliable." - Again, what is the basis for this claim? If you're going to propose deletion and make wild claims about my editorial work, you owe to Wikipedia to post some evidence on the talk page. Mbroderick271 (talk) 22:56, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I proposed it for deletion primarily because I wasn't entirely sure it met notability criteria, and wanted other editors to assess and discuss it, because I do not consider myself a notability expert. I suspect non-notability because while the WP:MUSICBIO point 1 is met, there did not seem to be any other criteria that has been met (aside from potentially WP:MUSICBIO point 7, which is what I was hoping the deletion discussion would assess).
- As far the orphan tag, that wasn't me that put it there, and the orphan tag has no bearing on the deletion discussion, so I don't see how that is relevant.
- Any article that has subjective/peacocking language raises a red flag for conflict of interest, which is why I tagged it that way. In hindsight, it would have been better to tag it as NPOV or to go through and fix anything NPOV I found (which is what I ended up doing just now anyways).
- Finally, as far as your offense to my "wild claims" and "accusations," I would highly suggest you take time to read WP:AGF and WP:ETIQ.
- Thank you,

- Greetings
- @SparklingSnail Sorry, I get defensive and overzealous when editing at times. It's mostly because I've spent a lot of frustrating time trying to get Wikipedia articles about known abusers in entertainment to reflect their behavior while other male editors push back and try to prevent that information from being documented here. That's not your problem, and I'm sorry to have impugned your motives and harshly reacted to your editorial work. That was totally unnecessary and I apologize.
