Hi Cameron Dewy, sorry for the delayed response. I was dealing with certain health concerns of mine. Im not sure what you mean, was there already a seperate article about crime in Camden and then I created a second crime in camden page. Or are you asking why have a seperate article since there were already links to the blurb on it on the main camden page under Government and services. @Drwho407: What I am pointing out is that in the Camden, New Jersey there is a section headed Crime. Yes, it is under the section headed Government and Services and under Camden County Police Department (CCPD). While I don't accept that crime is a function of a police department or even a "service" a government might provide. I wonder why there needs to be a separate article about Crime in Camden. Crime is one aspect of living in Camden and should be covered in that article, too. If you are wanting to create a sub-article, then the way to go about it is to propose a split on the talk page before removing any content from the main article. In this edit to the Camden, New Jersey article, you removed the whole section on Crime. This situation lasted about two minutes before your edit was reverted and I am surprised you didn't notice it was put back. It seems that other editors disagree with your approach of creating a separate article, and think the section on Crime should remain in the Camden article. I agree with them and think you should improve the crime section in the Camden, New Jersey article before contemplating having a separate article. At this stage, I am still contemplating proposing that this article be merged back into the Camden, New Jersey article as I am not convinced having a separate article is an improvement, although I am open to being persuaded otherwise. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:24, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gjs238: I agree that it is worth splitting the Crime section of this article into a separate article about Crime in Camden, New Jersey. And I suppose this discussion can serve that purpose. However, that wasn't the case originally as the Crime section had been removed from this article and the text dropped into the separate one about crime without any discussion. That removal was reverted in a couple of minutes, so things looked like a duplication, with no explanation about what was going on. The problem is, on reading the Crime section, it is not apparent there is a sub-article because the link to it is buried in the previous section about the police. As far as I am aware, crime is not a service offered by any government or police department, yet this article is written as if it is! As far as I am concerned, any article split has been poorly executed so far. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 07:49, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
