Controversy

[edit]

Extremely POV. This section could be saved if there's any media coverage about student dissent at Corunna, but otherwise, this section needs to go. ObtuseAngle 16:32, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article should stay. Blocking the site is Extremely POV so why not let them express a very supported opinion? The article deifnately should stay if there is not any offensive material to a certain individual or group of individuals. It's our first ammendment, something that can never be taken away.

  • While I'm sympathetic to the problem of being blocked from even using Wikipedia, these pages are for fact, not opinion. Try reading this: WP:NOT, with special attention to 1.4 (Wikipedia is not a soapbox). I did not delete this section entirely because I wanted to see if anybody could provide some links to articles in which student dissatisfaction at Corunna is discussed. If so, then this section changes from POV to fact. If not, not. A lot of editors would've just deleted this section as biased. I didn't want to do that on the off chance that there was something to this. If you or someone else can provide links to media coverage about student dissent, I'll withdraw my POV claim. However, the way the section is currently written, it only tells one side of the story. Why did Corunna ban its students from using Wikipedia? So even if it's kept, it will have to be rewritten. That's why I tagged the section for not being neutral and described it on this page as being extremely POV. ObtuseAngle 00:58, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm giving this four more days (to 10 Oct). If there is no corroborating information regardng these policy changes, I'm deleting the Controversy section. Ball's in your court. Without independent confirmation of student dissent, this section is opinion and has no place in the article. ObtuseAngle 22:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia was banned at our school because of what you see on the page now, as well as other sundry vandalism commited by some students at the school. There is no media coverage of the discontent at the school, nor is any likely. While everything in the offending section is factually true, in respect for the neutrality and "no original research" policies of Wikipedia, I'll remove it. (Just for the record, I didn't write it.)Biblioholic 22:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
