Notability

[edit]

Since the only guideline we have for schools state specifically that middle schools are not to have articles unless they can show they meet GNG, and as there are no secondary sources on this at all, I disagree on undoing the redirect. It's great they are such a high quality school, but quality ≠ notability. Notability means that secondary sources have made note of and written about it. The only place GNG talks about awards and notability are some of the subsets like WP:NACTOR. The only subset that would apply to this is WP:ORG, which insists that the sources be geographically dispersed. So sorry, no notability here. Unless I see an argument to the contrary here in the next few days, I will re-redirect this. John from Idegon (talk) 15:59, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This school is one of only 8 schools to receive 4 Blue Ribbon Awards. When a bold redirect has been undone it is inappropriate to redo it (WP:BRD). If you are unhappy with notability then please take the page to WP:AFD. The Whispering Wind (talk) 16:32, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a link to an article that will actually show the school is notable. If you want to move the bar on what is notable, article by article is a pretty pain in the butt way to do it. Why not just start an RfC? I have nothing against middle schools and would be more than happy to support a reasonable standard, but right now the standard is they have to meet GNG, and references to various primary sources showing they have won awards does not do that. If newspapers in geographically disperse areas wrote about the school winning the award, or a national magazine wrote about it, that would. John from Idegon (talk) 23:01, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Updating Information

[edit]

Respectfully, how can we get the information on this school updated? Not fully aware of the protocol, but there is a lot of old and outdated information. School population number from 2011. Information obtained from a few pretty old articles. Description of admission policies that have not been in place for many years. I know all of this as I am a staff member at this school, and I've tried updating only to have the updates reversed. No intention of offending anyone, but the current information is not accurate and my changes were correct. Just someone trying to help update information, not trying to have a battle or invest an incredible amount of time on this. My students just found the WP page for their school today and laughed at how wrong some of it was so I thought I would help. For what it is worth, my information is firsthand. I even have access to interview faculty that opened this school in 1983. 73.2.127.148 (talk) 04:56, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
